Pros And Cons Of Buying A Used Car Still Under Warranty

You have saved up some money and want to invest in a used vehicle, and you have your eye on some pretty nice deals. You spot a few cars with some of the warranty still intact. Are these cars a good investment? Some vehicles, such as used Nissan Altimas and other cars from the Nissan line, can come with warranties that cover the car for quite a while. Take a look at some of the pros and cons of buying a used car that is still under warranty.
Pro: You will get peace of mind knowing if something goes wrong, it will still be covered.
Buying a used car is a tricky thing. You have to do your research to make sure the car is still going to be reliable and to make sure you are paying a fair price for a vehicle that has already been in use. When you buy a car that does still have the remainder of the warranty left, you know that at least if something goes wrong while the car is under warranty, it will be fixed.
Con: A used car that's still under warranty will be more expensive.
It is understandable, but for the most part, if you find a used car that still has some of the manufacturer's warranty included, you are going to pay more for it than what you would a car that is not still under warranty. These vehicles are naturally going to retain a higher value so sellers can put a higher price on them reasonably. Of course, the added cost is usually well worth the included warranty, especially for a used car.
Pro: The car will likely have a good service record.
One stipulation that usually comes along with a warranty is that the car must be properly maintained or the warranty will be voided. Therefore, you can almost guarantee that the vehicle you are buying has had its oil changed regularly, has had any problems addressed, and has generally been kept up by a licensed mechanic. If not, the car's warranty would already be voided.
Con: Transferred warranties sometimes don't offer the same lines of coverage.
Before you do buy a used car that still has a warranty, make sure you find out how that warranty will change with the transfer of ownership. In some cases, the limitations with the warranty will be more stringent when the warranty is transferred, and this is definitely something you will want to know.
